Paecilo® contains spores of Paecilomyces lilacinus. The composition is customised to comply with regulatory guidelines of respective countries. Paecilomyces lilacinus is a proprietary strain and compliant with National Bio Diversity Authority guidelines and has Access Benefit Sharing (ABS) agreement with the State Bio Diversity Board for payment of royalty to the habitat from where the microbes have been isolated.

Conidial penetration: Paecilomyces lilacinus on getting attached to the host forms a dense mycelium that gives rise to conidiophores. These bear phialides at the ends of which spores are formed in long chains. The fungus produces an appressorium (a swelling on the end of the germ tube) which marks the start of invasion of insect. The appressorium produces a penetration peg that enters the external skein (cuticle) of the host. The fungus produces hyphae inside insect body which proliferate and start feeding on insect’s internal contents.

Enzyme production: Paecilomyces lilacinus produces proteases and chitinase enzymes that weakens nematodes so as to enable a narrow infection peg to be established and push through the insect’s exterior and pathogenise it from within. A novel nematicidal compound is present in Paecilo® that weaken the nematodes and then gets inside the insect and kills the infected nematode.

Growth: Once inside, Paecilo® replicates and consumes the nematodes' internal organs and blood-like fluid, the hemolymph eventually killing it. Paecilo® infects the nematode on contact and do not need to be consumed by nematode to cause infection.

Environment factors: The rate at which Paecilo® kills the nematode is dependent on temperature and humidity. High humidity is essential for conidial germination and infection establishes between 24 to 48 hours. The infected nematodes may live for three to five days after hyphal penetration and, after death of nematode, the conidiophores bearing conidia are produced on cadaver. The fungus is specific to Nematodes. Nematodes die before the fungus is visible. Paecilomyces lilacinus grows best at 20-30 degree C and at a relative humidity above 65%

  • Paecilo® effectively controls economically important nematode pests for a wide range of crops
  • Nematode load reduction leads to improved plant health and thereby increased crop productivity
  • Paecilo® can be used as an effective component in Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programmes, thereby leading to a reduction in use of chemical pesticides and creating a safer environment

  • Application method Notes

    Seed dressing:

Mix Paecilo® with crude sugar in sufficient water to make a slurry and coat seeds and dry in shade and sow / broadcast / dibble in the field. Do not store treated / coated seeds more than 24 hrs

Soil application: Paecilo® can be used as under:

    • 1. Mix Paecilo® at recommended doses with compost and apply at early life stages of crop along with other biofertilizers. Apply twice for seasonal crops like vegetables. First application: At land prepration stage / sowing / planting. Second application: Three weeks after first application
    • 2. Drip Irrigation: If there are insoluble particles, filter the solution and add to drip tank.
    • 3. Long duration crops / Perennial / Orchard crops: Dissolve Paecilo® at recommended doses in sufficient water and apply as a drenching spray near root zone four times a year. It is recommended to have first application before the onset of the main monsoon / rainfall/ spring season and second application after the main monsoon / rainfall / autumn/ fall season.

    Foilar Application: Not Applicable

    Note:

Do not store Paecilo® solution for more than 24 hours after mixing in water.
A fraction of the product may not be soluble in water. It is advisable to filter and discard undissolved residue and use filtered liquid for spraying or feeding through drip irrigation.

  • Compatibility

Compatible with other BioPesticides , BioNematicides , biofertilizers, organic fertilizers, organic manures, biopesticides, vermicompost, sea kelp (seaweed fertilizer), protein hydrolysates, organic carbon and rock phosphate.

    Note:

It is advisable to have a one-week gap if soil application pesticides are to be used after application of Paecilo®.
