Powderycare contains conidiospores of Ampelomyces quisqualis. The composition is customised to comply with regulatory guidelines of respective countries. Ampelomyces quisqualis is a proprietary strain and compliant with National Bio Diversity Authority guidelines and has Access Benefit Sharing (ABS) agreement with the State Bio Diversity Board for payment of royalty to the habitat from where the microbes have been isolated.

Substrate Competition for space and Nutrients: Ampelomyces quisqualis competes with the pathogens by colonizing a large area of the target site and competes for the plant substrates and nutrients thereby causing the pathogens to starve - Domino effect.

Mycoparasitism: Ampelomyces quisqualis being a hyper parasite penetrates the pathogen and infects it by forming pycnidia (fruiting bodies) within powdery mildew hyphae, conidiophores (specialised spore-producing hyphae) and cleistothecia (closed fruiting bodies of powdery mildews). It derives nutrition from the target pathogenic fungus protoplasm and Powderycare spores multiply inside target pathogenic fungus body and eventually kill the mildew colony.

Enzyme production: Ampelomyces quisqualis produces certain enzymes which dissolve the host cell wall and penetrate and inactivate the host defense mechanism.

  • • Powderycare effectively controls an economically important fungal disease- Powdery mildew.
  • • Pathogenic fungi load reduction leads to improved plant health and thereby increased crop productivity.
  • • Powderycare can be used as an effective component in Integrated Pest Management programmes, thereby leading to a reduction in use of chemical pesticides and creating a safer environment.
