SheathGuard contains vegetative cells of Pseudomonas fluorescens. The composition is customised to comply with regulatory guidelines of respective countries. Pseudomonas fluorescens is a proprietary strain and compliant with National Bio Diversity Authority guidelines and has Access Benefit Sharing (ABS) agreement with the State Bio Diversity Board for payment of royalty to the habitat from where the microbes have been isolated.

Metabolite production: SheathGuard produces metabolites and enzymes which outcompete many pathogenic fungi and bacteria and suppress pathogens in the rhizosphere of the plant system.

Substrate Competition for space and Nutrients: Pseudomonas fluorescens colonizes maximum space and absorbs maximum nutrients available at the target site and thereby controls the pathogens by starving them for food and competing for space- Domino effect.

Nematicidal effect: Pseudomonas fluorescens produces toxins that have a nematicidal property and thus can be used as an effective nematicide.

  • • SheathGuard effectively controls most of the economically important diseases like sheath blight of rice and banana and other bacterial wilts, seed borne and soil borne fungal diseases in crops.
  • • Pathogenic fungi load reduction leads to improved plant health and thereby increased crop productivity.
  • • It colonizes roots, increases root mass and health, and consequently provides increase in yield.
  • • SheathGuard can be used as an effective component in Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programmes, thereby leading to a reduction in use of chemical fertilizers and creating a safer environment.

  • Application method Notes

Seed Dressing:Mix SheathGuard with crude sugar in sufficient water to make a slurry and coat seeds and dry in shade and sow / broadcast / dibble in the field. Do not store treated / coated seeds more than 24 hrs

Soil Application: SheathGuard can be used as under:

    • 1. Mix at recommended doses with compost and apply at early life stages of crop along with other biofertilizers. First application: At land prepration stage / sowing / planting. Second application: Three weeks after first application
    • 2. Mix SheathGuard at recommended doses in sufficient water and drench soil at early leaf stage/ 2-4 leaf stage / early crop life cycle
    • 3. Drip Irrigation: If there are insoluble particles, filter the solution and add to drip tank.
    • 4. Long duration crops / Perennial / Orchard crops: Dissolve SheathGuard at recommended doses in sufficient water and apply as a drenching spray near root zone twice a year. It is recommended to have first application before the onset of the main monsoon / rainfall/ spring season and second application after the main monsoon / rainfall / autumn/ fall season.

Foliar application: Mix SheathGuard at recommended doses in sufficient water and spray on soil during off season. Apply twice a year for long duration crops. It is recommended to have first application before the onset of the main monsoon / rainfall/ spring season and second application after the main monsoon / rainfall / autumn/ fall season.

Note: Do not store SheathGuard solution for more than 24 hours after mixing in water.

A fraction of the product may not be soluble in water. It is advisable to filter and discard undissolved residue and use filtered liquid for spraying or feeding through drip irrigation.

  • Compatibility

Compatible with other BioPesticides, biofertilizers, organic fertilizers, organic manures, biopesticides, vermicompost, sea kelp (seaweed fertilizer), protein hydrolysates, organic carbon and rock phosphate.

NOTE: It is advisable to have a one-week gap if soil application pesticides are to be used after application of SheathGuard
